After doing my observation and duoethnography, not only have I learned different ideas but I actually got a chance to see how student athletes feel. Hearing everybody stories really open my eyes up about things I could never realize just doing research. Doing my observation made me realize how tired players really were. Which made me feel sad and really want a change.
The solution that I came up with was pay every athlete the same amount of money across the NCAA so kids wouldn’t go to certain college just to get more money. But pay them on how much merchandise they sell such as jerseys, bobble heads, and etc. Then they should have a dining area thats up 24/7 for them.
Another solution you can do is have money saved up for the athletes after college, so they can at least be stable when they leave college. It shows them that you appreciate them for their hard work that they put in for your university. It also will prevent kids to go over seas to play professional for a little bit of money instead they will go to college and get their degrees. Then not only that, kids would want to stay in college longer instead of trying to leave college early to try and go professional.
